* Hughes Electronics Corp. completed its $1.36-billion purchase of most of Primestar Inc., the No. 2 U.S. satellite-TV company, overcoming objections of bondholders who threatened to kill the sale. Primestar agreed to raise its payout to creditors to about 97.5 cents on the dollar from the 67 cents it had been offering. The closing comes three days before Hughes’ agreement to buy Primestar was to expire and after weeks of intense and sometimes contentious negotiations between Primestar and its creditors. El Segundo-based Hughes will add Primestar’s medium-power satellite-TV system to its DirecTV Inc. unit, the largest U.S. satellite broadcaster.
