Start-Up FreeMac Planning iMac Giveaway

FreeMac Inc., a start-up company based in Santa Monica, said it plans to give away as many as 1 million of Apple Computer Inc.’s iMac personal computers. In exchange, consumers must sign up for three years of Internet service with EarthLink Network Inc. at $19.95 a month and will have to submit a demographic profile so that advertisements can target them. Consumers who want to get one of the first 10,000 free machines, to be distributed in October and November, can register at https://www.freemac.com. FreeMac is working with computer distributor Ingram Micro Inc. to get the machines.
