Cell Phones

Well, Nadine Lewis, the real estate broker, admits that she was being rude to her mother (who was only in town for 24 hours) by accepting a cell phone call during their dinner at a restaurant (Voices, July 31). Maybe there was another mother and daughter at the next table who went to dine, hoping to escape the intrusions of a phone just for that hour they had together.

She won’t interrupt her “sacred” time with her daughter by using her cell phone during her Mommy and Me class, but she feels it is her privilege to interrupt other people’s time with their family members in a theater, by allowing her phone to ring during the movie. Next time, wait for it to come out on video so you don’t ruin other people’s moviegoing experience.

How very sad that money comes before respect for her mother and her fellow man.
