Share

Congregation B’nai Israel of Tustin will celebrate construction of a 10,000-square-foot sanctuary Aug. 22 with music and dancing.

Founded in a rented storefront in 1981, the Conservative congregation merged with Temple Sharon in 1992 and moved into its current facility a year later. The new building, the first permanent synagogue sanctuary built in the county since 1983, includes a 350-seat auditorium, offices, classrooms and gift shop.

The Sunday celebration, held to honor volunteers on the building design committee and to thank the builders, will include a Klezmer band, songs by the synagogue choir and Israeli dancing. It will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the synagogue, 2111 Bryan Ave. in Tustin.
