Bed and Bath Chain Being Liquidated

Share

The owner of the Three D Bed & Bath chain is unloading merchandise and closing stores after failing to bounce back from bankruptcy, the company’s attorney said. Costa Mesa-based Three D Departments Inc. filed for Chapter 11 reorganization last year but was unable to right itself quickly enough to satisfy creditors, attorney Marc Winthrop said. Three D, which has been in business since 1957, had 22 stores in California, Connecticut and Arizona before the bankruptcy. Seven of the stores have since closed. Of the 15 stores that remain open, three are in California--Irvine, Mission Viejo and Torrance. The liquidation sale got underway Wednesday and is expected to continue through mid-October, Winthrop said. More than half of Three D’s 480 employees have been terminated.
