Three residents Thursday filed a lawsuit against the City Council alleging that it violated the Ralph M. Brown Act open-meeting law.
The suit, filed in Orange County Superior Court, alleges Mayor Sherri M. Butterfield and council members Tom Potocki, William S. Craycraft and Susan Withrow badgered Councilman John Paul Ledesma behind closed doors at the April 19 council meeting.
Plaintiffs Brad Morton, Kyle Crenshaw and Eugene Dale Tyler claim the council members were upset over Ledesma’s proposals for voter approval of redevelopment bonds and future capital improvements.
Butterfield read a prepared statement at last week’s council meeting denying any violation of the law. A court date is pending.
