4 Russian Parties Create Stalinist Bloc
Four small radical political parties--and the grandson of the late Soviet dictator Josef Stalin--joined forces Sunday as “the Stalinist Bloc” to boost their chances in December parliamentary elections.
The bloc’s main goals are to restore the Soviet Union and abolish the presidency, according to Viktor I. Anpilov, who heads the alliance’s largest party, Workers’ Russia.
Anpilov, Stalin’s grandson Yevgeny Dzhugashvili and hard-liner Stanislav N. Terekhov will lead the alliance, Russian news reports said. The bloc was formally launched at a Moscow hotel Sunday.
Besides Workers’ Russia, the other parties in the bloc are Terekhov’s Officers Union, the People’s Patriotic Youth Union and the Union Movement.
