Rubio’s Names 2 Execs to Fill Operations, Construction Jobs

* Carlsbad, Calif.-based Rubio’s Restaurants Inc., operator of the Rubio’s Baja Grill restaurant chain, has promoted Michael O’Keefe to vice president of operations and named Chris Bailey to the newly created position of director of construction.

Rubio’s went public in May, raising $23.3 million, which the company has said it will use to fund growth. Rubio’s currently operates 76 company-owned restaurants in Southern California, Arizona, Las Vegas, Denver, Salt Lake City and Sacramento and licenses or operates three restaurants in special venues.

* Spencer Neumann has been named chief financial officer of Walt Disney Co.’s Buena Vista Internet Group. He will be responsible for all business planning, finance, accounting and administration activities and will play an integral role in all new business development activities. Neumann had been chief operating officer of Anaheim Sports Inc.

* WeddingChannel.com, a Los Angeles-based online bridal registry and wedding planner, has named Adam Berger president and will take a key role in shaping the Web site’s business strategy. Berger is former president of Franklin Mint, a Philadelphia-based direct marketer and collectibles retailer.

* Kenneth J. Murphy, a former partner with the law firm Arter & Hadden, has been named general counsel of Sherman Oaks-based CarsDirect.com, an Internet-based auto dealer. The company also named Mark Miller, formerly chief operating officer and vice president of Miller Automotive Group, vice president of dealer and industry relations.

* Thomas T. Carpenter, formerly a partner and head of the product liability group at the law firm of Bronson, Bronson & McKinnon, has joined the product liability group at Carroll, Burdick & McDonough and will be based at the firm’s Los Angeles office.
