* Evelyn Schieferle Blase; Retired Legal Secretary
Evelyn Schieferle Blase, a retired legal secretary, died at her home at Solimar Beach on Sunday. She was 69.
She was born on June 10, 1930, in Van Nuys. Her parents moved to Santa Paula when she was a child to operate a cattle ranch.
After graduating from Santa Paula High School in 1948, she worked for Citizens State Bank in Santa Paula for the next 25 years.
She met DeWitt Blase, a local attorney, and they married in 1974. She began to work for her husband’s law practice as a legal secretary. They retired in 1997.
Blase was a member of the Saticoy Country Club and enjoyed entertaining friends. She loved to work in her flower gardens and took numerous cruises. She also loved her poodles.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Schieferle.
Blase is survived by her husband, as well as nephews Harold Schieferle of Santa Barbara and Jim Schieferle of Camarillo.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Santa Barbara Cancer Foundation or Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Assn. of Ventura County.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Santa Paula Cemetery.
