Councilman Russell Patterson has asked the City Council to support a water-purification project at tonight’s meeting. Patterson is chairman of the Sanitation District Committee, which has worked with the Orange County Water District and the Orange County Sanitation District on their proposed Groundwater Replenishment System. The $400-million system would provide purified waste water to about 200,000 north and central Orange County homes. District officials are “shoring up local support” in preparation for when board members from both districts vote on the project in 2001, according to Ron Wildermuth, spokesman for the water district.
