Net2Phone, Compaq Link Up

Net2Phone Inc., which provides low-cost phone services over the Internet, said personal computer maker Compaq Computer Corp. agreed to link foreign users of its Presario PCs with Net2Phone’s service. Financial terms were not disclosed. The three-year agreement gives users access to Net2Phone’s service through a Web site created by both companies. Shares of Net2Phone, which have almost doubled since they began trading July 29, rose $6 to close at $53.13 on Nasdaq.Shares of IDT Corp., which owns about 58% of Net2Phone, rose $2.13 to close at $24.25 on Nasdaq; and Houston-based Compaq fell 56 cents to close at $23.50 on the NYSE.
