The Nadadores Foundation board has tentatively accepted the city’s proposal extending the deadline to end the Nadadores’ lease of the Marguerite Aquatics Center. The city proposes to push the existing Aug. 31 deadline to sometime after Jan. 1, to give the parties more time to renegotiate a contract without canceling the Nadadores’ agreement.

The city wants to renegotiate its lease with the Nadadores to reduce the public subsidies, which cover a large portion of the Aquatics Center’s maintenance costs, and to increase public access to the facility.

If both parties agree on the language of the proposal, the City Council will decide Monday whether to extend the deadline or exercise the termination clause.
