* I get very weary of the gun fanciers’ claim that banning weapons is the same as banning automobiles because a drunk driver kills somebody. There is no comparison. If a person is killed by a vehicle, the vehicle is not being used for the purpose for which it is made. But a handgun or an Uzi has only one purpose: to kill human beings. . . . The question is whether we desire to have the continued proliferation of such tools of death in our communities.
