Schwartz Wins Scratch Main at Speedway

Costa Mesa’s Bobby Schwartz won the four-lap scratch main event Saturday in Speedway motorcycle racing at the Orange County Fairgrounds in front of 5,928. Andy Northrup of Alta Loma was second, Ed Castro of Ojai third and Gary Hicks of Riverside fourth.

Charlie Venegas of San Bernardino won the eight-lap main, starting from the 50-yard line. He also finished fifth in the scratch main.

Hicks finished second in the handicap main, starting from the 60. Sawn McConnell of Brea was third (60) and John Aden of Apple Valley was fourth (50).
