Day Runner Inc., the Irvine manufacturer of personal organizers, said Monday that Dennis Marquardt resigned as chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance and administration.
He could not be reached for comment, and the company did not explain why Marquardt left.
Day Runner said it named David A. Werner to replace him. Werner was executive vice president and a director of Kaynar Technologies Inc., a maker of specialty airplane fasteners. He worked on Kaynar’s initial public offering in 1997 and its sale earlier this year to Fairchild Corp.
Day Runner has been evaluating strategic alternatives that include the possible sale of the company or joint ventures. The company reported earnings of $600,000, or 5 cents a diluted share, for its fiscal first quarter, which ended Sept. 30.
Marquardt joined Day Runner as vice president, finance, chief financial officer and assistant secretary in April 1986, when the company’s annual sales were less than $15 million. Sales for its fiscal year, which ended June 30, were $196 million.
