Fund Begun for 6 Massacre Funerals
Police chaplains have set up a trust fund to help pay for the funerals of five children and their father killed in a murder-suicide.
Kao Xiong shot five of his seven children before turning a gun on himself Saturday afternoon. Two children, boys ages 14 and 9, escaped unharmed and are staying with relatives, police said.
Mai Thao, Xiong’s wife and the children’s mother, was not home when the killings occurred.
The Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy has created a trust fund at a local bank to help cover funeral costs, Chaplain Mindy Russell said.
