Enrique Cadicamo, 99, who composed some of the most popular tangos ever recorded. The composer, author and screenwriter became widely known after composing his first song when he was 25--”Bubbles of Soap.” The song was made popular by tango great Carlos Gardel and is regarded as one of the genre’s classic recordings. While many of Cadicamo’s songs took on tango’s characteristically melancholic tone, the composer’s sense of humor and lyrical playfulness came through in songs like “The World Lacks a Screw,” “The Little House of My Parents,” “Ruby” and “Injured Soul.” He worked with Argentine writer Felix Pelayo on several screenplays, and in 1949, Cadicamo scripted the film, “The History of Tango.” On Friday in Buenos Aires.
