Baxter Names Four Directors of New Firm

Baxter International Inc., which is spinning off its large cardiovascular division in Irvine to shareholders, has named four directors for the new, as yet unnamed firm. They are Michael A. Mussallem, Baxter group vice president who will become chairman and chief executive officer of the new company; Vernon R. Loucks Jr., who is retiring as chairman of Baxter International; Philip M. Neal, president and chief executive officer of Avery Dennison Corp.; and David E.I. Pyott, president and chief executive officer of Allergan Inc. The new company will be one of the largest cardiovascular businesses in the country, with annual sales of about $900 million.

* David W. Stein has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president and senior relationship manager for First American Trust. Stein, who is based in the Newport Beach office, previously held management positions at Imperial Trust Co., Northern Trust Bank of California, Trust Services of America, Security Pacific Bank and Crocker National Bank. Christopher J. Rogers has been named vice president and investment manager. He will be based in the Santa Ana corporate headquarters. Before joining First American, Rogers was a portfolio analyst for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. He has also held management positions at Corporate Securities Group, Pacific Life Insurance Co. and Merrill Lynch.

* Barbara Drummond has been appointed senior vice president of the Roxburgh Agency in Costa Mesa. Drummond has directed the firm’s creative services and graphic design department for five years and was most recently vice president.
