RealNetworks announced a partnership with WebGlide, a deal that would give its popular RealPlayer program the ability to show three-dimensional video. Seattle-based RealNetworks said it plans to add the 3-D video feature to the RealPlayer, which plays audio and video transmitted over the Internet, by mid-2000. RealPlayer can be downloaded for free. RealNetworks is also taking an undisclosed minority stake in New York-based WebGlide, which was founded to make computer-generated 3-D “stores” for electronic-commerce sites.
