Minolta Ex-Controller Sentenced for Theft

Share

A former controller for Minolta Corp. has been sentenced to 10 months in custody for stealing money from his employer, according to Assistant U.S. Atty. David Lavine.

Metin Odemis, 39, of Irvine stole more than $200,000 by forging Minolta checks, using his position at the company’s Western regional office, Lavine said.

U.S. District Judge David O. Carter in Santa Ana recommended that Odemis serve his sentence in a community corrections center, which would allow him to work during the day and continue supporting his wife and daughter. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons will decide where Odemis serves his sentence.

Odemis was also ordered to repay the stolen funds. An attorney for Odemis was unavailable for comment.
