Where Route 66 and Highway 61 once were America’s great musical links, now it might be the I-10, stretching from California to the Gulf States. That’s the premise of “The I-10 Chronicles,” an album-in-progress honoring the music heard along that interstate, with Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Joe Ely, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Tex-Mex great Flaco Jimenez among those involved. The project is due in spring from Virgin subsidiary Backporch Records, with plans for at least one concert featuring all the performers and a possible TV special. . . .

Former Rolling Stones producer Andrew Loog Oldham has been missing in action for years, but Woodstock-based indie folk-rock singer Paxton tracked him down at his home in Bogota, Colombia. And now Oldham is serving (via digital connections) as arranger for some material for Paxton’s next album, due in the spring. It was an old Oldham orchestration that the Verve sampled for its hit “Bittersweet Symphony.” . . .

Eve 6 is working on its sophomore album with producer Don Gilmore, who produced the million-selling 1998 debut “Eve 6.” Sessions are expected to end in January, with a release date to be set. . . .

A Kenny Wayne Shepherd video shoot will be central to an episode of the WB network series “Movie Stars.” Set to tape on Thursday, the story has teenage Lori, with a big crush on the guitarist, wanting to appear in his video. Shepherd and his band will perform “Last Goodbye” in the show. . . .

Former Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille is recording his first solo album, due March 21 from Portrait Records, the Sony label run by John David Kalodner and home to such persevering ‘80s-metal warriors as Ratt and Iron Maiden. . . .

With “Duke Elegant,” an homage to Duke Ellington, due Feb. 1, Dr. John is now teaming with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green on two songs for an upcoming album paying tribute to blues legend Robert Johnson.
