Va. License Plate Claims Net Title

California may be home to Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan calls his city the “birthplace of the Internet.” But a new license plate in Virginia claims that state is actually the true “Internet C@pital.” The plate, one of 150 specialty designs available in the Old Dominion, includes a yellow “.com” inside a blue semi-circle.
Virginia is home to more than 2,500 high-tech firms, including leading Internet companies America Online and Network Solutions. The new plates, which command a $10 premium, simply help the state’s estimated 350,000 technology workers make the transition from the information superhighway to a more traditional kind of roadway.
