Larry Brown didn’t want Allen Iverson on the floor in the final 20 minutes of Saturday night’s loss at Detroit. On Sunday, Iverson showed he doesn’t want to be on the same floor as Brown.

The Philadelphia 76ers star and NBA leading scorer did not attend an optional practice Sunday, the morning after saying he should be traded if Brown is unhappy with his play.

Iverson lashed out at his coach Saturday night after he and the other four Philadelphia starters were benched with more than eight minutes left in the third quarter.

“For some reason, my style doesn’t fit this team anymore,” Iverson said. “If I’m hurting this team, I need to get out of here. I don’t like what is going on. When I get back to Philly, I’ll let that be known. However you look at it, I’m going to be the bad guy, but I’ll deal with it.”

Only four players attended Brown’s practice: Tyrone Hill, George Lynch and Eric Snow, three of the benched starters, and rookie Todd MacCulloch.

“My door is always open,” said Brown, who challenged Iverson to meet with him. “I’m here today. If it’s such a pressing, urgent matter, I’m accessible.”

Tom Gugliotta was released from a Portland hospital in time to celebrate his 30th birthday at home in Phoenix following his seizure on the Suns’ team bus Friday night. Gugliotta said he remembers nothing of the seizure, only that he woke up about 4 a.m. Saturday in Legacy Emanuel Hospital wondering where he was. More tests are planned for this week. . . . Cleveland forward Danny Ferry is expected to miss at least 7-10 days after suffering a strained left calf in Saturday’s game against New Jersey.

Feick Turns Scorer as Nets Win

Used more for his rebounding, Jamie Feick turned into quite a jump shooter Sunday.

Feick scored a season-high 16 points, making seven jumpers from 16 to 21 feet away, and added 13 rebounds as the New Jersey Nets defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 96-88, for their fifth consecutive home victory.

“I didn’t know he was capable of making shots from out there. I take my hat off to him,” Atlanta center Dikembe Mutombo said. “I didn’t plan to chase him.”
