Charles Schulz

Re your Dec. 16 editorial on Charles Schulz’s retirement: One thing which truly endeared Schulz to me was his yearly recognition of the anniversary of the 1944 D-Day landings in Normandy and of the tremendous sacrifices made by GIs during World War II. He also made frequent reference to Bill Mauldin, the GI cartoonist best known for his portrayals of Willie and Joe during that war.
