Windrell Hayes of USC had nine catches for 153 yards and was the most valuable offensive player for the Blue team in a 22-22 tie Saturday in the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic at Montgomery, Ala.

Linebacker Keith Miller of California, a transfer from Palomar Community College, was the Blue team’s most valuable defensive player, and Iowa State’s Darren Davis, younger brother of New Orleans Saint running back Troy Davis, was the Blue’s outstanding player overall. He ran for 116 yards in 13 carries.

But it was mostly players from smaller schools who dominated.

Kareem Larrimore of West Texas A&M; returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown for the Gray team, and Demario Brown of Utah State ran for two touchdowns and Curtis Keaton of James Madison for one for the Blue team.
