Education Contract

Share

My wife is a sixth-grade teacher and from what I hear, the students who achieve are those who have parental support. If Gov. Gray Davis wants to make an improvement in the education system, I believe he should offer a program whereby both students and the parents sign a contract that includes limiting television until all homework is done and reviewed.

For those students and parents who don’t want to sign a contract, place the students in a separate class. It would provide a challenge for those not in the contract class environment to want to eventually sign a contract, because they will be able to see how successful education can be. So far, all the billions being spent have done little to make the improvements all the authorities have promised. Until the education system makes the parents and students responsible for their own education, the system will continue to underachieve.
