THIS WEEK

Men’s basketball: If--and it’s a big if--the Anteaters are going to make the Big West Conference tournament, they had better get busy this week. Irvine plays hapless Nevada on Thursday and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday. Both games are at 7 p.m. “Fullerton is one of the three teams that are going to be battling to get in the tournament,” Coach Pat Douglass said.

Women’s basketball: Guard Shannon Anders had her best back-to-back games of the season, scoring 10 points against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and 14 against UC Santa Barbara. “I told her she needed to be more of a presence,” Coach Mark Adams said. “She thought that we wanted her just to spot up for us. She needed to take the ball to the basket. She gave us a little more from the perimeter.” Irvine plays at North Texas at 5 p.m. Friday and at Fullerton at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Men’s tennis: The Anteaters (5-0) visit fifth-ranked UCLA at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Women’s tennis; Irvine plays at No. 25 San Diego State at 2 p.m. Friday and hosts Colorado at 11 a.m. Saturday.
