How does the computer slogan “Tarot inside” grab you? Visionary Networks Inc. has released a CD-ROM that will install 10 different Tarot decks on your computer, allowing the psychically connected to chart the future from home. The program, called “Tarot Magic,” includes a library of Tarot histories and detailed explanations of how to interpret the cards.

We arbitrarily put the Marseilles deck to the test: “Will Bill Clinton survive impeachment?” The cards were noncommittal, saying in classic Clinton-speak, “When you can’t find a reason for the situation, look for the opportunity it may present.”

Then the cards were asked a more pressing question: “Will I get stuck on the 405?” The answer? “The spotlight is about to fall on you; be prepared to defend your viewpoint.”

Which, loosely interpreted, means, “Who knows? But if you stop for a drink until traffic clears, you better have a good excuse ready for your wife.”
