Snyder to Build West Hollywood Complex

Share

After a yearlong review process, the West Hollywood City Council has selected developer J.H. Snyder Co. and its partner Regent Properties of Beverly Hills to build a retail/entertainment center at La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. The 8-acre project has been tentatively dubbed West Hollywood Gateway.

The first phase of the redevelopment project, which will be built around the famous Formosa restaurant, is expected to break ground later this year. It will take up about 270,000 square feet and will probably include retail shops, restaurants, office space and an art-house theater, all set back from the street for pedestrian access, as well as an underground parking garage.

“Urban infill locations like this are rare in the greater Los Angeles area, and a parcel with such high visibility in an established area is almost unheard of,” said Milt Swimmer, who is heading the project for Los Angeles-based Snyder.
