The City Council has postponed an amendment to the general plan and the Newport Boulevard Specific Plan until it adopts community objectives for Newport Boulevard.
In January, the Planning Commission recommended banning projects such as mini-warehouses and self-storage yards because they did not contribute to the economic viability of the boulevard. Since then, Councilwoman Linda Dixon has proposed an economic feasibility study to determine the best uses for the boulevard.
