Taming the tresses can be a hair-raising experience. But a new gadget called the HairScenter aims to make hairstyling relaxing. It’s an attachment that slips on to the end of a blow dryer, with an internal cotton pad for holding aromatherapy oils believed to have mood-enhancing effects.

Your aromatherapy session begins as soon as you turn on the blow dryer. Use lavender to calm the spirit before a high-powered meeting, or try eucalyptus to purify the air and relax your breathing. Peppermint is believed to stimulate the thinking processes, while tangerine enhances creativity. The HairScenter can also infuse your favorite perfume onto your hair, between bed sheets or in lingerie drawers.
