Myvett Keeps Littlerock in Hunt for Golden Title

Gene Myvett scored 25 points and sank two free throws with 31 seconds remaining to give Littlerock High a 59-58 victory over Palmdale in a Golden League basketball game Tuesday night at Palmdale.

Palmdale (11-13, 4-5 in league play) missed three shots in the final 30 seconds.

Matt White blocked Eric Brown’s jump shot with three seconds left to seal the victory for Littlerock (20-4, 7-2).

The Lobos host Quartz Hill on Friday night with the league title at stake.

In other games:

Santa Clara 67, Calabasas 51--Terrance Dotsy scored 27 points, 15 more than his average, to help the Saints compensate for the absence of Nick Jones in a Frontier League victory at Santa Clara.

Dotsy, who made nine of 11 free throws, had 10 rebounds. B.J. Ward scored 26 points, making eight of 10 free throws. Santa Clara (20-3, 5-2), ranked No. 7 in the region by The Times, made 21 of 29 free throws.

Jones, the Saints’ leading scorer with a 21.8 average, was forced to sit out after being ejected for drawing two technical fouls Friday against Santa Paula.

Michael Goldman scored 29 points, including the game’s only three-point basket, for Calabasas (9-16, 2-6).

Ventura 68, Buena 63--Jeff Staniland scored seven of Ventura’s 10 points in overtime in a come-from-behind Channel League victory at Ventura College.

Staniland finished with 21 points for Ventura (16-9, 5-2), which trailed, 22-8, in the second quarter. The second-place Cougars moved a half-game ahead of idle Oxnard.

Gary Peterson scored 15 points, all on three-pointers, for Ventura.

Peter Brown had 19 points for Buena (10-15, 1-7).

Hoover 73, Arcadia 58--Zareh Avedian had a season-high 29 points and 10 rebounds for Hoover (8-16, 2-7) in a Pacific League game at Arcadia. Chris Rubio had 12 points and 10 assists for Hoover.

Valencia 70, Saugus 55--Royce Minor scored 21 points and Eskias McDaniels had 20 points, 22 rebounds and eight blocked shots for host Valencia (14-11, 7-2) in a Foothill League game.

Nic Echevestre scored 22 points for the Centurions (12-12, 4-5).

Burbank 59, Hart 41--Jack Holwahjian made five of seven free throws and scored eight points in the fourth quarter for Burbank (6-17, 3-6) in a Foothill League game at Hart.

Holwahjian finished with 22 points and teammate Romeo Joudeie added 11. Kelly Welldon scored 15 points for the Indians (12-13, 1-8).

Channel Islands 68, Hueneme 64--Dwight Sattiewhite made six free throws and Chris Diaz scored all five of his points in overtime for Channel Islands (11-12, 5-2) to a Pacific View League game at Hueneme.

Sattiewhite led all scorers with 29 points and Michael Keddington added 10 for Channel Islands.

Albert Garcia scored 19 points and Dwight Norman had 12 for the Vikings (10-12, 4-3).

La Canada 57, San Marino 38--Ian Sullivan made two of his four three-point baskets during a 12-2 run to begin the second half for the visiting Spartans in a Rio Hondo League victory.

Sullivan had 16 points for La Canada (12-14, 6-3). Pat Madigan added 11 points, including three three-pointers.

Oxnard 75, Dos Pueblos 62--Ricky Hernandez scored 12 of his game-high 18 points in the second half and overtime period to lead the No. 9-ranked Yellowjackets (19-6) to a nonleague victory at Dos Pueblos.
