The Dodgers defeated infielder Mark Grudzielanek in salary arbitration Thursday.

After hearing arguments Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., arbitrator Nicholas Zumas ruled Grudzielanek will be paid $1.9 million this season. Grudzielanek, who made $350,000 last season, filed at $2.6 million.

“I don’t look at this like a victory for a lot of reasons,” General Manager Kevin Malone said. “I don’t like the arbitration process, and I don’t think you can have a victory in a situation like this because Mark Grudzielanek is a member of the Dodger family.”

Grudzielanek, 28, was acquired from the Montreal Expos last season. He batted .272 with 10 home runs and 62 runs batted in overall, and .264 with two homers and 21 RBIs in 51 games with the Dodgers.
