Ellis’ Ideas Aren’t Shocking--Just Old
Re “The Dark Side of a Generation” by Scott Martelle, Feb. 1:
Bret Easton Ellis--tortured genius or moody, humorless brat? Years ago someone asked me what I thought of “Less Than Zero,” and I said “less than much.” Was anyone truly shocked to read that Hollywood is full of hookers, junkies and rich spoiled white kids who get into mischief because they’re ignored by their high-powered show-biz parents? Now Mr. Ellis has brought forth “Glamorama” about--you’ll never guess--a vapid young male model. How does he come up with these fresh new ideas?
