Bus Fare Hike for the Elderly

Share

* The Orange County Transportation Authority is attempting to increase bus fares for the elderly and disabled with the endorsement of The Times (“Bus Fare Hike Seems Reasonable,” Feb. 7 editorial).

Does a 300% increase [from 15 cents to 50 cents] seem reasonable? Does 95 cents more a day seem reasonable? Why should the elderly and disabled bear the costs of increasing service to Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland, among other announced service enhancements?

The Times should reconsider its endorsement and the OCTA should reconsider its unfair and unreasonable fare hike on the elderly and disabled.
