THIS WEEK

Men’s basketball: “We’re going to get a win somewhere down the line,” Coach Pat Douglass said after Irvine lost to Cal State Fullerton. With four games left, and riding an 11-game losing streak, the pressure is on. Unless, of course, Douglass is looking way down the line, to next season. Irvine plays at Long Beach State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and at Pacific at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Women’s basketball: Big week for the Anteaters, who are tied with Pacific in the Big West Western Division. Both are one game behind second-place Long Beach State. Irvine hosts Long Beach at 7 p.m. Friday and Pacific at 2 p.m. Sunday. The fourth-place team will likely face 20th-ranked UC Santa Barbara in the conference tournament semifinals.

Men’s tennis: The Anteaters are 6-0 for the first time since 1985, although they have yet to face a severe test. Matches against fifth-ranked UCLA and No. 15 USC have been postponed because of rain. Irvine plays at USC at 1 p.m. Friday. The match against UCLA has been rescheduled for Feb. 25.

Men’s volleyball: Irvine is at 15th-ranked UC Santa Barbara Wednesday and at La Verne Saturday. Both matches are at 7 p.m.
