The Police Department will continue its push for community-oriented programs today when it introduces eight clergymen who will serve as chaplains. The chaplain program provides counseling, crisis intervention and other services to police officers and the public upon request.

The volunteer chaplains are Tom Bazacas, Light House Community Church, Costa Mesa; Mike Browning, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Newport Beach; Vincent Gilmore, Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Corona del Mar; Ted Leenerts, Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Costa Mesa; Mike MacIntosh, Horizon Christian Fellowship, San Diego; Kevin Querry, Living Water Christian Fellowship, Fountain Valley; Dave Rolph, Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa; and Stephen Scarlett, St. Matthew’s Church, Newport Beach.
