The Joy of Discovering Forbidden Delights

Share

I found “The Cover-Up” (Feb. 3) to be a terrific trip down memory lane. It confirmed my husband’s and my conviction that the ‘50s, with all their innocence and simplicity, were wonderful years to be teenagers. We had the same interests and appetites as kids do today, especially about sex, but we could discover things in our own way and at our own pace. The “Something About Mary” crowd doesn’t have any idea what it’s missing.

When I think of some young teenager watching “The Howard Stern Show” I wonder what type of impression he or she is getting about sex. It certainly isn’t very romantic.

For a child who is innocently curious and adventurous, today’s TV shows offer them much more than they probably want to know. It’s like dumping a bucket of water on someone who’s thirsty, when just a little sip would have been much more satisfying.
