Dissident Reportedly Seized In Police Raid
Police broke up a holiday party attended by about 50 members of a banned political opposition group and detained one of the activists, a human rights group said in Beijing. Members of the China Democracy Party were entertaining others at the Spring Festival--China’s New Year--at a teahouse in the eastern city of Hangzhou when 20 police officers burst in and ended the celebration, the Information Center of Human Rights and Democratic Movement in China said. Police took away Wang Jinbo, a party member from Shandong province, the Hong Kong-based group reported.
