70 Bodies Reportedly Pulled From Well

Algerian authorities have pulled 70 bodies from a well used as a mass grave on the outskirts of Algiers, the newspaper Liberte reported. The bodies were retrieved near Ouled Allel, it said. However, there was no immediate official confirmation of the report. Until a recent clampdown by security forces, Ouled Allel was a stronghold for the radical Armed Islamic Group. The newspaper said the bodies were pulled out over the last two weeks after a member of the Armed Islamic Group gave information to police about the well after turning himself in, the report said.
