Interlink Electronics in Camarillo reported revenues of $6.4 million for the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31, record growth at a 17% increase over the fourth quarter of the previous year.

VersaPoint pointing products, Interlink’s main product line, increased by 22% compared to the fourth quarter of 1997. The company reported net income of $353,000, or 7 cents per share, compared to a loss of $774,000, or 15 cents per share, for the same period in 1997.

For all of 1998, revenues reached $22.1 million, a 15% increase over 1997. Revenues from the VersaPoint product line increased 15% to $19.4 million compared to the prior year.

Net income for the year was $757,000, or 15 cents per share, excluding a one-time charge of $355,000 related to the settlement of litigation in September. In 1997, the company recorded net income of $30,000, or 1 cent per share.

“The fourth-quarter revenue growth was largely driven by our partnerships with original equipment manufacturers, both in the U. S. and Japan,” said E. Michael Thoben, Interlink chairman, CEO and president. “This is especially true in Japan, where our revenue growth in 1998 more than doubled over 1997.”

Interlink designs and manufactures computer pointing devices such as wireless hand-held remote controls, wireless keyboards, touch pads and pointing sticks.
