Simi Technology Firm Forms Partnership

Advanced Recognition Technologies in Simi Valley, which markets voice and handwriting recognition technologies, has formed a partnership with Innovative Global Solutions, a developer of wireless communication products based in San Diego.

ART will deliver voice dialing and command and control devices for the IGS NeoPoint 1000, a digital cellular phone. The NeoPoint 1000 offers wireless Internet access, PC synchronization, wireless fax and modem and functions such as contacts, calendaring and a to-do list.

ART’s voice recognition technology will equip the NeoPoint 1000 with voice activation of all the major control functions.

“This partnership between ART and IGS is fundamental for wireless communications as we approach the millennium,” said Rick McCaskill, ART executive vice president and general manager.

More than 4 million wireless phones have been shipped with ART voice recognition technology within the past year, officials said. The company has been shipping handwriting and voice recognition software for hand-held PCs since 1996.
