Leaders of the Little Saigon protest met again with police Wednesday in a talk aimed at ironing out agreements to ensure their demonstrations remain peaceful. “There was a lot of potential for tensions between protesters and the police” over the last weekend, said Alfonso Clarke, a mediation coordinator for the Orange County Human Relations Commission who helped organize the talks. “We’re trying to make sure there’s clear communication between the protesters and police.”

Demonstrator attorney Van Thai Tran said he and four other attorneys were designated as new liaisons to police for when officers need to control or move the crowds. He said they will have daily communications with designated officers to discuss each day’s plans.

The two-hour meeting at the Civic Center was said to be positive, and another has been scheduled for Friday.
