Storm Dumps Snow, Heap of Problems

A surprise storm pummeled New England, dumping up to a foot of snow on the region and causing power outages, flight and ferry cancellations, and school closures. The National Weather Service predicted up to 18 inches of snow before the blustery storm’s end some time today. Winds gusting to 50 mph whipped Cape Cod, Mass., and the resort islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Boston’s Logan International Airport reported many canceled flights.
