Vanderbilt Coach Jan van Breda Kolff, whose Commodores have lost eight of their last 10 games, said he will quit at the end of the season.

Van Breda Kolff, whose future with the Commodores has been in doubt for weeks, said he had hoped to end his coaching career at the school where he starred as a player in the early 1970s after playing at Palos Verdes High.

“I have given it my very best, but it is time to move on,” he said in a statement.
