Alps Avalanche Toll Rises to 37 Dead

The search for avalanche victims drew near a close after rescuers found four more bodies, bringing the death toll to 37. A young girl was still missing and presumed dead. More than 4,000 tourists have streamed out of resorts in the Paznaun valley, where two snowslides crushed the villages of Galtuer and Valzur. An international fleet of helicopters--including 10 from the U.S. Army--brought people to Landeck to catch buses and trains home.
