Man Wins $10 Million for Faulty Gun Design

A federal judge in New Orleans has ordered an Italian gun maker to pay $10.8 million to a man who was paralyzed when he dropped his pistol and it discharged, hitting him in the neck. U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon ruled that the .25-caliber pistol made by Fratelli Tanfoglio SRL had a firing pin that was too long, which caused the gun to go off when the hammer was bumped. The lawsuit was filed by Arnold Jackson, 52, who was shot in 1992. The gun maker did not defend itself, and court papers listed no lawyer for the company.
