The next time USC players voice collective disappointment at being invited to a lesser-tier bowl game, Mike Garrett should take action. Decline the invitation, please. That way the university, the alumni, the fans, and the Pac-10 can all be spared the embarrassment.

Oh, by the way, since when did Chris Claiborne become an arm tackler?

Why did USC decide to change coaches before its “effort” in the Sun Bowl? Paul Hackett did a decent job all season and deserved the opportunity to run the team.

Yet, come bowl time, the Trojans have Del Harris running the team. How else can you explain their pathetic showing?

Paul Hackett should resign. He has twice given up on his players this year, electing to punt at the end of a game when losing. USC deserves more from its coaches.

The reason pro coaches lose in college football is the philosophy behind the pro game. For pros, the game is their life. For college players, the mission is to get educated and play football.

Paul Hackett needs to learn this lesson. It was his job to bring his team to the game with TCU in good condition. He didn’t. Give back your salary for December, Paul.
