From Times Wire Reports

Two men were in custody and facing kidnapping charges for allegedly trying to smuggle into the United States a woman who refused an arranged marriage to one of the men. Wahid Nader, 29, and Jamal Nasser Aziz, 37, both natives of Afghanistan, were arrested after authorities at the U.S.-Canada border found the woman in a car trunk. A U.S. magistrate on Saturday ordered the men held without bail until they can have a detention hearing today. The two men were arrested after an Immigration and Naturalization Service inspector in Niagara Falls, N.Y., sensed something suspicious. He asked Aziz to open the trunk, and inside found a handcuffed Mine Betoor and Nader, who had been promised the woman. Betoor told authorities that Aziz, her uncle, threatened to kill her if she made noises or tried to escape.
