Princeton Leaves Brown Blue Again

Freshman Chris Young scored a career-high 19 points and Princeton opened defense of its Ivy League championship Friday night with an easy 67-45 victory over Brown at Princeton, N.J.

In moving to 49-0 against Brown (2-11) at home, the longest streak of its kind in NCAA Division I history, the Tigers (9-4) won their 29th consecutive Ivy League game.

Princeton got 15 points from Brian Earl and 13 from Gabe Lewullis. Brown’s Kamal Rountree, the Ivy League’s second-leading scorer with an 18.2 average, was held to 10 points.

Young scored 13 first-half points as Princeton gradually opened a 36-22 halftime lead. The center scored 10 of the Tigers’ first 17 points as they built a 20-8 advantage.

With the score 23-14, Mason Rocca scored five points in a 10-0 run as Princeton opened a 33-14 advantage with 2:51 remaining.

Brown cut its deficit to 14 points at halftime, but Young and Earl scored all 10 points in Princeton’s 10-4 run that made the score 46-26 with four minutes gone in the second half.
